Research into applications for Erbium nanocrystals has focused on use as a dopant in silicon and silicon matrix, lanthanum fluoride, glass and optical fibers, in phosphors, nanophosphors and doped phosphorous nanoparticles and for their potential electrical, optical, imaging, biomedical and bioscience properties and for use in coatings, plastics, nanowire, and in alloy and catalyst applications.
