Material Notes:

BR-3 is a super abrasion resistant cold work die steel, sued primarily for special applications subject to extreme wear such as refractory brick mold press liners, shot blast liners, and ceramic tile liners. Because BR-3 contains carefully balanced high percentages of carbon and vanadium, it posses a multitude of hard abrasion resisting vanadium carbides which account for its superior wear resistance.Information Provided by Timken Latrobe Steel.Timken sold Latrobe in December 2006.
