Material Notes:
Winco 44 is a free machining, “ready-to-use” alloy steel. The unique physical and mechanical properties of the grade – at both normal and elevated temperatures – result in outstanding service in countless applications. Winco 44 qualities are maintained even when exposed to temperatures as high as 1000°F. Chemical analysis is the same as standard H-13 and free-machining H-13 in the annealed condition. Sulfide additives improve machinability and make die work at a hardness of Rockwell “C” 42-46 still practical. In addition to exceptional wearing qualities and excellent strength retention, Winco 44 is increasingly popular for its machinability and adaptability. Use of the alloy eliminates costly and timely heat treating as well as finishing operations following heat treating. Problems normally associated with heat treating, such as size change, distortion, and cracking risks, no longer exist. The demands for high strength, increased wear resistance and greater toughness in certain engineering and maintenance applications has brought about numerous uses for Winco 44 high strength steel. It is the ideal alloy for longer productions runs, improved productivity and shorter delivery schedules. Advantages:Ready to use – bypasses costly heat treating operations.Excellent for tooling and maintenance applications, machine component parts and other difficult engineering applications.Eliminates size-changing and distortion risks involved in heat treating.Ideal for prototypes and cores in casting applications. Retains strength at high temperatures.Machinable and weldable.Cuts downtime – No heat treating.Information from Wingate Alloys Inc.
