This alloy is most often used for welding UNS S24000 and UNS S24100 base metals. These alloys are nitrogen strengthened austenitic stainless steels exhibiting high strength and good toughness in a wide range of temperatures. Significant improvement of wear resistance in particle-to-metal and metal-to-metal (galling) application is a valuable characteristic when compared with more conventional austenitic stainless steels like type 304.
