Material Notes:
In addition to Fiberfrax Bulk Fibers, Unifrax has the ability to produce many different specialty fibers that provide a variety of desirable performance properties for certain applications. These fibers can be classified into the following general categories:High-Index FibersHigh-Temperature FibersLarge-Diameter FibersMilled FibersUnifrax manufactures two high-temperature specialty fibers for use in applications beyond recommended operating temperatures of 2300°F (1260°C). Bulk 8000 is made from high-purity alumina, zirconia, and silica raw materials. This chemistry, along with the unique manufacturing process, provides a fiber which can withstand continuous operating temperatures up to 2450°F (1345°C). Fibermax® Bulk Fiber is a high-temperatuer, polycrystalline mullite fiber. Fibermax fiber can withstand continuous operating temperatures up to 2800°F (1540°C) and is virtually shot free. Fibermax fibers can be blended with regular alumina-silicate Fiberfrax fibers to increase the thermal stability of the blended product beyond that of high-purity bulk fiber.Information Provided by Unifrax I LLC
