Material Notes:
Key Features: highly isotactic, semi-crystalline nucleated homopolymer, good creep resistance, good environmental stress crack resistance, FDA acceptable, easily dispersibleApplications: packaging industry, minor additive in polyethylene seal-peel layerMeets FDA requirements in 21 CFR 177.1570 for direct food contact up to 212°F (100°C).Description: Polybutene-1 PB 0110 is a highly isotactic, semi-crystalline nucleated homopolymer, which can be used where creep resistance, environmental stress crack resistance and elevated temperature performance ar key requirements. This polymer is miscible with polypropylenes due to its similar molecular structure. In blends with polyehtylenes it is immiscible, but easily dispersible. This copolymer is mainly used in the packaging industry primarily as a minor additive in a polyethylene seal-peel layer for the production of coextruded flexible film or more rigid possibility of tailoring the seal strength for controlled flexible film or more rigid possibility of tailoring the seal strength for controlled easy-opening of peelable seal packaging. This grade is particularly suitable when peelability is required for packages needing a higher heat resistance. A typical blend partner for this copolymer is a fraction melt index high density polyethylene. It meets FDA requirements for direct food contact under 21 CFR 177.1570.Information provided by Montell Polyolefins.LyondellBasell is the successor company to Montell.
