Chalk is a form of calcium carbonate The fine, soft nature of Microcarb chalk whiting coupled with a smooth round particle shape and carefully controlled particle size make it an ideal filler for a variety of applications. The major advantages of Microcarb are low cost, good color high brightness, low oil absorption, good temperature stability and ease of mixing. Applications: The range of Microcarb chalk whitings available make it a versatile filler for use in many applications including paints, powder coatings, textured coatings, dry wall compounds, sealants, mastics, rigid and flexible PVC, epoxy compounds, adhesives, rubber, printing inks and paper products.In paints, Microcarb whitings provide body, adjust sheen, increase viscosity, and extend expensive pigments such as titanium dioxide thus lowering cost.Microcarb chalk whitings are used as general purpose fillers in rubber and plastics, not only to reduce overall costs but to enhance the properties of many polymers such as rigid and plasticized PVC. Coated grades of Microcarb are especially useful in these applications since they reduce plasticizer demand, assist dispersion and act as a processing aid.
