LyondellBasell Aquathene® CM04482 Catalyst Masterbatch

ApplicationsAQUATHENE CM 04482 is a catalyst masterbatch designed for use with AQUATHENE AQ 120-000 ethylene vinylsilane copolymer. When CM 04482 is added at 5 wt% to AQ 120-000, the resulting material is capable of crosslinking when exposed to moisture.Processing TechniquesThe combination of 5 percent CM 04482 and 95 percent AQ 120-000 can be extruded onto wire using conventional extrusion equipment. Suggested temperature profiles for use with a 2.5", 20:1 extruder equipped with a Maddock mixing screw are recommended. Regulatory StatusThe two-part system consisting of AQ 120-000 and CM 04482 crosslinks after the materials are mixed during extrusion and subsequently exposed to moisture. Crosslinking can be achieved by exposure to steam, immersion in water or storage at ambient conditions. Since cure time varies considerably with environmental conditions and cable constructions, contact your Equistar sales representative for detailed cure conditions. CM04482 catalyst masterbatch should be stored separately from AQ 120-000 resin until extrusion. If the product is exposed to moisture, it should be dried approximately 8-16 hours at 140°F(176°C) before use.
